The Oasis 7-Position Filter Wheel redefines filter management for astrophotography. Boasting an ultra-flat 21mm profile and crafted from CNC-machined aluminum, it perfectly blends sleek design with unmatched mechanical precision. Inspired by the timeless elegance of a fine watch and the meticulous accuracy of a vinyl record player, this filter wheel delivers exceptional reliability and ease of use for serious imagers. Packed with innovative features not found on any other filter wheel, the Oasis Filter Wheel isn’t just visually stunning — it changes the game.
Key Features:
- Ultra-slim profile — Only 21mm thick with fully internal motor — it’s the world’s first completely FLAT filter wheel.
- Clock-like precision — Special friction-based belt drive with mechanical switch positioning. No backlash.
- CNC-machined body with oversized central screw lock — Overbuilt rigidity and mechanical stability. Astroasis’ central screw lock provides maximum rigidity and is a massive improvement over competing designs.
- Repeatable Calibration Frames — Filter changes are exact and repeatable every single time, making the capture of flats & lights reliably headache-free night after night.
- Completely sealed — Engineered anti-light-leak system including shell, ports, screw holes, and filter windows
- Compatible with most mainstream brands — ZWO, QHY, Touptek, Player One, OGMA, and Astroasis brand compatibility. If you are unsure about compatibility, please reach out to us or check our diagrams below.
- Tool-free filter changes — Install or swap filters without screws or risk of damage
- USB-C powered & controlled — Single cable, driver-free USB HID interface
- No COM port conflicts — USB-HID provides plug-and-play functionality on Windows, macOS, and Linux, without ever requiring or conflicting with highly problematic COM ports.
- Operates down to -30°C — Ideal for remote or winter observatories
World’s First Completely Flat Filter Wheel
No more gaudy motor assemblies hanging out of the back of your filter wheel, or hard edges to snag cables on. Our motor is completely contained within the CNC-machined housing, and features a backlash-free belt drive.
At only 21mm thick, the Astroasis Filter Wheel is the sleekest filter wheel in the world.

Guaranteed Precision, Every Time
Repeatability and precision are non-negotiable for any astrophotographer’s filter wheel. If your filter wheel can’t consistently return to the exact same position, your flat frames won’t calibrate properly, resulting in uneven corrections—especially around the filter edges—and making image processing exponentially more difficult. Unlike other filter wheels that rely solely on imprecise encoders or magnets, the Astroasis Filter Wheel uses a robust mechanical switch to lock the wheel into position—every single time.
Here’s how it works: when you select a new filter, the unidirectional wheel rotates clockwise until the desired position is reached. Then, it reverses until the mechanical switch hits a physical stop (see image below). Once engaged, the wheel is locked firmly into place. This innovative locking mechanism guarantees your filter wheel returns to the exact same physical position night after night, filter change after filter change. It’s a feature you won’t find anywhere else—and one that delivers unmatched reliability and consistency for your astrophotography workflow.

Supports 50mm Unmounted and 2″ Mounted Filters
Our design provides support for both 2″ mounted and 50mm unmounted filters, including a variety of spacers, o-rings, and filter masks to ensure that you can safely install a wide variety of filter types.

No More Disassembly Hassles
Tired of dismantling your filter wheel just to mount your camera? We’ve designed access holes for every compatible camera model, so you can reach the screws easily—no disassembly required.

Rigid & Stable: We’re Not Screwing Around
We don’t cut corners. Our oversized central screw directly anchors into the filter wheel body, creating a rigid, flex-free connection. The result is a solid, stable filter wheel assembly that maintains its unparalleled rigidity in all conditions.

Oversized Bearings
No cutting corners means we didn’t just invest in rigidity, but smoothness and stability as well. Our central bearing is large and in charge, utilizing high quality precision bearings to provide smooth & stable operation with each revolution.
Zero Light Leak
We poured countless hours into perfecting the Astroasis Filter Wheel design, leaving no detail overlooked—especially when it comes to preventing light leaks. Every filter wheel package includes a complete set of gaskets, masks, and specialized screws to seal every potential leak point, including the filters themselves.
The faceplate features an offset flange, and any open screw holes are easily covered by the included darkening screws. Even the USB-C port is designed to ensure your camera doesn’t catch any strays.

Included darkening tools are included with every filter wheel
- Filter o-rings, gaskets, and masks (unmounted filters)
- OAG darkening gasket (telescope faceplate)
- Camera darkening gasket (camera side)
- Darkening screws (both faceplates)
- USB-C Proprietary gasket
Exceptional Mechanical Design
- Friction-based belt drive ensures zero backlash and high repeatability
- Mechanical switch-based filter positioning independent of motor resolution or sensor error
- Large internal bearings provide stable, balanced rotation without adding weight
- Filter locking with reverse tension maintains precise alignment in all positions
Optimized Your Workflow
- No disc removal needed — Cameras can be attached via screw holes accessible through the filter disc
- Dual mounting options — Swap your OAG or Camera in
- Quick and easy tool-free filter changes — Swap or clean your filters in seconds, not minutes.
- USB-C for both power and control — Clean, simple cable management
